Cholistan Jeep Rally, also known as Cholistan Desert Rally, is an off-road race that is organized by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab. More than 100 racers take part in this race while about 100,000 visitors witness this rally. The rally takes place in the desert of Cholistan which is the 4th largest desert in Pakistan. This beautiful desert covers an area of 25,800 km2 and is situated in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
The Cholistan rally was started in 2005 and since then, it has presented a positive image of Pakistan. The aim of holding this event in the Cholistan desert is to show the history and culture of this beautiful piece of land to the outside world. This rally promotes tourism and the local population earns a good livelihood as well. The sandy tracks of the Cholistan desert challenge the driving skills of participants and also test the quality of vehicles from some of the most well-known brands around the world. The rally is sponsored by different government departments and brands.
In this event, the vehicles cover hundreds of kilometers of stunning desert track. Cholistan rally covers the three districts of Punjab which includes Rahim Yar Khan, Bhawalnagar, and Bahawalpur. The rally is divided into four categories that are named A, B, C, and D. This rally initiates from Derawar fort which can be seen from miles away. It lasts for two to three days. The winner of this rally gets a trophy and prize cash. You’ll need some clearance of documents as well before entering this event as a competitor.
